wasted and i can't find my way home

back from two weeks in new york, it was beautiful. i went to lots of art galleries, wandered around fifth avenue, caught the train to chelsea and soho, ate huge breakfasts at a cute little diner called the astro, bought too many clothes, and too many books, and got caught in one of the worst snowstorms in new york's history. it was nice but it's good to be home again.

nyc playlist

airplanes - local natives
sweatmother - tobacco
red lights - holy fuck
personality crisis - new york dolls
i can't stand it - the velvet underground

beatniks are out to make it rich

i've got my last two exams conveniently scheduled on the same day - next monday. so far i have been spending my final studying period doing the following:
________________
- drinking tea
- facebook
- going on tumblr
- making myself french toast
- making myself fairy bread
- going for long walks in the sunshine
- browsing various opshops
- not studying

yeeah, need to do something about my motivation levels. especially considering that these are my two most difficult subjects and i got a c+ and b+ on my philosophy and media practice exams, respectively. so i'm taking a leave of absence from this blog until the 15th of november. all things aside from exams, life is good.

careering

so in queensland i bought:

  • vintage 60s sailor-style shift dress
  • vintage 80s goth-y cocktail dress
  • vintage 80s lace front dress
  • 2 sportsgirl long sleeved dresses
  • vintage black lace top
  • vintage red and white polkadot skirt
  • vintage black handbag

it was a good week for my wardrobe, clearly. and the novelties:

  • 1970s kirk and spock figurines (bought for $20 each, $50 less than what they're worth!)
  • 1983 public image ltd. 12" single, this is not a lovesong ($5!)

the shopping makes up for the fact that queensland is generally rubbish and full of bogans. and i'm so glad to be home, just in time for the beach boys last night! they were fantastic, i spent the night up and doing the twist, they didn't play caroline no or don't talk (put your head on my shoulder) :( then again they might as well have played pet sounds in its entirety if they wanted to impress me. the lack of brian wilson took away from it quite a bit i suppose

anyway long post sry
p.s: i looooooove this man:

p.p.s: ke$ha's new song, your love is my drug is amazing. pleeassee tour soon

age of consent

my cat wanted to go outside, but it's nighttime so we wouldn't let him. he then proceeded to run up to the open window, slam his body against the fly screen to open it, and run away into the night. i admire his persistence.

work was okay really. i was just being melodramatic. unfortunately i have to cancel a sleepover i was going to have because they were insistent i work tomorrow. this is irritating because it's occured to me that every weekend is going to be a battle now that i'm working nights. so much for partying these holidays.

saw a gorgeous indie guy on the train. HE HAD A QUIFF. we kept on exchanging glances and at one point he turned around as if he were going to speak to me but he didn't. we got off at the same station. he disappeared into the distance. shattered

eewwwww school

homework i have not done these holidays:
- psychology survey. i still have to write the actual survey, survey 15-20 people, write up and graph the results on a scatter-plot, or something like that. due on tuesday (although i'm planning to wag to buy more time, and my teacher's a pushover).
- history essay on socio-cultural movements of the 60s/70s. none of the fun mods-and-rockers stuff, though, it's strictly politically-related movements. due in two weeks.
- literature debate speech. i have it easy, being first speaker, but i still don't know when i will be fucked to write this. due sometime next week.
- study for my health 3/4 SAC. it's not that far away, and being a year 12 subject it actually counts for something. fuck.

homework i have done these holidays:
- .............nah, i got nothing.
