so in queensland i bought:

  • vintage 60s sailor-style shift dress
  • vintage 80s goth-y cocktail dress
  • vintage 80s lace front dress
  • 2 sportsgirl long sleeved dresses
  • vintage black lace top
  • vintage red and white polkadot skirt
  • vintage black handbag

it was a good week for my wardrobe, clearly. and the novelties:

  • 1970s kirk and spock figurines (bought for $20 each, $50 less than what they're worth!)
  • 1983 public image ltd. 12" single, this is not a lovesong ($5!)

the shopping makes up for the fact that queensland is generally rubbish and full of bogans. and i'm so glad to be home, just in time for the beach boys last night! they were fantastic, i spent the night up and doing the twist, they didn't play caroline no or don't talk (put your head on my shoulder) :( then again they might as well have played pet sounds in its entirety if they wanted to impress me. the lack of brian wilson took away from it quite a bit i suppose

anyway long post sry
p.s: i looooooove this man:

p.p.s: ke$ha's new song, your love is my drug is amazing. pleeassee tour soon

bubble gum

this could be the cutest outfit ever, courtesy of 60s yé-yé singer sylvie vartan:
i adore her, a recent musical discovery in my neverending quest for more french 60s pop. pictured here with john and paul:

in other news i was reading this blog today and fell in love with her DIY ramones bag:

isn't it gorgeous? might have to try something similar myself one of these days

currently listening to:
la noyée ~ serge gainsbourg
bubble gum ~ brigitte bardot
some kinda love ~ the velvet underground
love is the drug ~ roxy music

apology to pink floyd

so for years and years, i have quietly hated pink floyd. i wasn't fond of progressive rock, i don't generally have the patience to listen to songs over 7 or 8 minutes (except desolation row, of course) and i just generally thought they were pretentious wanks.

however as i was watching the seven ages of rock on the abc the other night i realised that for years and years, i have been sorely mistaken.

sorry, pink floyd. you're pretty decent after all.

my one and only baby

i'm sorry. i'm being stupid. here is the best pop song of all time to make up for it

watch me break and watch me burn

i've probably already broken my new year's resolution to stop pitying myself, but courtney love is a goddess and i love this song:

currently coming to terms with the fact that my life at the moment is as good as it's going to get

i am the girl you know can't look you in the eye
i am the girl you know so sick i cannot try
i am the one you want can't look you in the eye
i am the girl you know i lie and lie and lie

where did you get your clothes, a five and dime store?

new year's resolutions

  • try to curb intermittent slutty, trashy and self-destructive behaviour
  • stop liking people who don't like you
  • stop obsessing over said people
  • attempt to cure social awkwardness/stop scaring people
  • don't fail vce
  • stop pitying self_____________________________

so hopefully i will emerge from 2010 not as last year's skanky, socially awkward, lonely neurotic with a potential vce crash-and-burn, but as a classy, poised, and charming young woman who will most certainly not fail vce and most certainly does not have a playlist on her ipod titled "depressed".
